Season 5

Ivar announces to his worshippers in the Great Hall of Kattegat his son is a divine child. Freydis later gives birth to Baldur months after and the servant woman tells her she won't be able to breast-feed him. Freydis is eager to hold her child and then an overjoyed Ivar holds his son, only to see the child has been born with a deformity. Freydis says Baldur's deformity is a true sign of the Gods favor as she told him when they first met. The shocked and saddened Ivar leaves Baldur to die at night, unknown to Freydis. It is later confirmed that his remains were found eaten by foxes.

Despite not being Ivars biological son Baldur was born a cripple which made Ivar reject the child as he wanted a healthy baby. Days after Ivar kills Freydis and leaves her on her bed with the remains of her child, Baldur.
