Dent lived in Inchicore, Ireland. She trained at the Brendan Smith Academy and the College of Music. She is known for her roles in Ella Enchanted, Rough Diamond, and With or Without You. She is married to fellow actor Joe Gallagher, and they have a son named Jesse.
