In History[]

East Anglia was a small independent kingdom of the Germanic peoples known as the Angles. It comprised what is now the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk ("North folk" and "South folk") and perhaps the eastern part of the Fens. The kingdom was formed in the 6th century and was ruled by the Wuffingas dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries, until it fell to Mercia in 794 AD. It was conquered by the Danes in 869, forming part of the Danelaw. Danelaw being the part of England in which the laws of the Danes held sway and dominance compared to West Saxon and Mercian laws. In 903 the exiled Æthelwold convinced the East Anglian Danes to wage a disastrous war on his cousin Edward the Elder. East Anglia was conquered by Edward the Elder and incorporated into the Kingdom of England in 918.[1]

Farming and gardening are very successful in this fertile country. The landscape was heavily influenced by Dutch technology.
