Istrehagan (or Istrehågan) is a village in Vestfold that was raided by the Rus, who were there to stake a claim on Scandinavia.

In Vikings[]

Istrehagan was under the rule of King Harald when it was raided by the Kievan Rus cavalry. After a Rus cavalryman planted the flag of the Kievan Rus in the village to lay his peoples' claim on Scandinavia, the village was suddenly raided by a number of Rus cavalrymen who put the village folk to the sword.

Although some of the Vikings fought back, the Rus eventually overcame them. The raid presumably led to to slaughter all of the residents except one elderly man named Aoife. When Harald's men came upon the sight of the massacred village, they questioned the man and took him to the king to explain what happened.
