Njord (Old Norse: Njörðr; pronounced NYORD; meaning "force, power") is the god of the sea, wealth, and sailing in Norse mythology. He is the father of Freyja and Freyr and the husband of Skadi.
Biography[]
Njord, Freyja, and Frigg are part of the Vanir, but they reside with the Æsir. Njord's home is Noatun (Old Norse: Nóatún; meaning "the Place of Ships," "Ships' Heaven," or "Ship Town") in Asgard that is right next to the sea. Njord is fated to survive Ragnarok, after which he will return to the Vanir.
