Biography[]

According to the Scandinavian sagas, Sigurd was granted rulership over Svealand as a vassal king under his uncle Harald Wartooth, King of Denmark. When he was older, he took up arms against his uncle and successfully overthrew him after the legendary Battle of the Bråvalla. The sagas say that Odin himself sided with Sigurd and killed Harald. Sigurd ruled Denmark until his death.[1]

Trivia[]
