Svase was a Sami king and an ally to Lagertha.
Svase has allied with Lagertha against Ivar and Harald, he went to Kattegat with his his daughter. In Kattegat he met Bjorn who proposes to marry his daughter. Svase and his allies discuss how to respond to Ivar's attack, and decide to meet him in battle on land, assuming that he will not attack the town from the sea.
During the First battle for the kingdom of Kattegat, the sami succesfully ambush Hvitserk's division, driving them back and allowing Lagertha to outflank Harald's main force and forcing them to retreat with heavy losses.
King Svase leads his forces during the Second battle for the kingdom of Kattegat. He attempts to repeat the succesfull ambush against a reserve of Vestfold-Rogaland forces. Unfortunatly, the tide is quickly turned against the Sami.
Snaefrid finds her father in a ditch dead with his face cut open by the Norsemen's axes and meets the same fate moments later.
- In the Heimskringla, Svase the Finn is said to have married his daughter Snaefried to King Harald Finehair of Norway.
- Ethnic Sami are referred to a Finns in the Norse sagas. They are traditionally nomads in the mountainous and forested interior of upper Scandinavia who herd reindeer.
